When I upgraded my original Prusa to a Bear frame I mounted the spool holder on the top back of the frame. The filament dragged across the top bar which was sub-optimal. I created this guide to a) get a good angle off the spool and b) have a good angle into the extruder.
The guide has a print-in-place ball swivel through which you pass the filament. Probably totally unnecessary, but I hadn't every designed one before so I gave it a go. I do like the way it works.
