This is my entry for the FormFutura Refill Master Spool Design Contest.
To challenge myself I wanted to design a spool that consists of two identical parts, no supports, no separate printed parts for connecting the two halfs and no fasteners. When the spool is assembled, both sides had to be symmetrical and the spokes and the place for the sticker had to line up with the opposite side.
Also it had to be suitable to use in the Bambu Lab AMS.
There are holes in the core to insert the start of the roll so the roll can not freely spin on the spool as this causes issues when used in the Bambu Lab AMS.
The space in the core can be used for bags of dessicant.
To assemble the spool, simply place the locking notches in the corresponding holes of the opposite half and twist the two halves in opposite directions to lock them.
Each side takes around 100 grams of filament when using 4 walls and 20% infill.
