This was designed to hold a ToupTek GPCMOS 1.25" camera on a standard 1/4-20 threaded tripod for testing purposes.

After printing, drop a standard 1/4-20 nut into the hole; superglue it if you feel so inclined.

There is a new version of this design that now includes a dovetail for a low-cost reflex sight such as those from Orion, Astromania, or Celestron.

How I Designed This ===================

Pretty simple design made of primitive shapes (CSG).

  1. Two cylinders were used to construct a tool in the shape of the camera itself.
  2. The intersection of three rotated rectangular prisms fused to a cylinder was used to construct a tool to make the nut holder
  3. A larger cylinder forms the main holder, with a rectangular prism joined to the bottom for the nut
  4. Tool #1 is subtracted from cylinder #3 to form a cavity for the camera body
  5. Tool #2 is subtracted from camera body holder #4 to form a cavity for a 1/4-20 nut
  6. A rectangular prism is subtracted from the top of camera body #4 to reduce friction and reduce print time.
