UPDATE: Now includes files for M3 with threaded inserts, based on community feedback :)
I saw some posts online about printed Y-splitters being unreliable. Thought I'd design my own because, why not? This model does not require any tube fittings (tube clips, or pneumatic fittings). Apart from printing this model, only 6 x M2x8 cap screws are required.
(My) Print Settings:
Material: PLA
Layer Height: Adaptive for quality
Walls: 4
Infill: 15% Grid
Instructions:
- Make sure both Top and Bottom parts are printed with the outsides facing down.
- Use adaptive layer height to speed up, but make sure the small detail prints at 0.08mm layer height.
- I just touched the mating surfaces with 400 gritt sandpaper to smooth them a bit.
- Use a utility blade to chamfer the inside edge of the outgoing tube slightly. This ensures that there is no internal snag when filament is pushed by a feeder mechanism.
- To get the PTFE tubes to stay inside, make sure to screw the M2x8's all the way in. Hold Top and Bottom tightly together when doing this to ensure there are no gaps or spaces.
- Once assembled, fiddle some filament through both sides just to work in the filament path a bit.
Mine was printed on the Bambu X1CC at normal speed. The tolerances are perfect, and I have minimal filament resistance. I can easily push through either filaments by hand.
This model is cheap, and remakeable whenever you need a new one, and it works a charm! Enjoy :)
