This is an adapter to mount the Prusa Mini spool holder on my Flashforge Dreamer.
I needed a better spool holder for my Dreamer. I wanted something more sturdy than the arms that stick out at a right angle. I was familiar with the spool holder that comes with the Prusa Mini. I tracked down the STLs from Prusa's github and put together an adapter to mount it to the chassis of my Dreamer. I use my Dreamer with the lid completely removed as I only print PLA on this machine. If you print with other materials where you use the lid, this adapter is not compatible (unless you'd like to modify the lid).
Prusa Mini spool holder STL files and assembly instructions:
You will need to print 4 of the base parts
And 2 of the rails (see below before printing rails!!!)
Prusa Mini spool holder assembly instructions
RAILS NEED TO BE EXTENDED:
I had to extend the spool holder rails so i could fit my mounting pieces on the ends. The original rails are 100mm. I extended them in the slicer to 130mm as shown in the screenshot. I don't know if you want to go much wider than that. That's basically the limits for the width of the area I mounted the spool holder to.
Hardware required:
4x M3x12 screws
4x M3 hex nuts
4x 608 bearings
Assembly notes:
Needless to say, you need to print two of my adapters to put on each end of the spool holder rails. I used some double sided tape under each of my adapters. I probably didn't need to, but I was happy with the positioning of it and used the tape to make it extra secure.
I could have used double sided tape on the bottom of the Prusa Mini Spool Holder Base pieces and stuck the holder directly to the printer chassis instead of making an adapter, but then the width/alignment wouldn't be adjustable. This is the main reason I ended up making the adapter mounts.
