Inspired by the microjig fitfinder, this tool uses a simple geometric principle to find half the thickness of a piece of wood or other material for setting a saw blade or router bit height. This can be used on materials up to 50mm thick.
Print at .2mm resolution. Some of the corners of the design will be prone to raising, so I recommend printing with a brim. Support necessary on build plate only. The mechanism requires the base to be as flat as possible, so make sure you're using a filament that isn't prone to warping.
Requires 2 m5*25 hex bolts and nuts. Also print 2 m5 knobs to go over the nuts, I used the m5 short model from M5/M6 Knobs by JeremyKMac.
To use it, make sure the base and wood to be measured are on a flat surface. Loosen both nuts and raise the right gauge all the way to the top, then bring it down flat on the wood. Tighten the nut on the right gauge. Check that the diagonal edge of the left gauge is completely even/co-linear with the diagonal edge of the base, then tighten the nut on the left gauge.
