A5 leaflet rack sides

These models act as the sides for a rack that will hold three A5 leaflets for display. You will also need some 1mm thick card such as mount/backing board (three A4 sheets will provide enough material), and a way to measure, cut and score it (e.g. a craft knife and a straight metal ruler). You will also need some general purpose glue such as impact adhesive.

Printed parts preparation

• Print a left and right side.
  • Complete sides are provided for people with larger printers (Filename suffixes L and R).
  • The MK3 print area is not sufficient for a whole side so top and bottom parts are provided for each side (Filename suffixes TL+BL, TR+BR). These have four holes for pinning - Use 2cm long pieces of 1.75mm filament (the holes may need widening slightly to fit).

Card parts preparation

• Make sure all measurements are made accurately and precisely, and kept square with the other edges. The more accurate they are, the better fit you will have at the end.
• Cut three strips of 1mm thickness card to be 16cm wide. 
• Measure all three to 19.9cm and score so the card can be folded. 
• Take two of the three strips. From the score point of each, measure a further 2.4cm and cut through fully.
• With the remaining strip , measure a further 2.5cm and score on the same side as the first so it can be folded.
• From the second score line, measure a further 3.9cm and cut through fully.
• Using a blunt edge, press along the long sides of the card so the edge is slightly compressed in. This will prevent the card being damaged when being inserted into the sides.

Assembly

• Fold each piece of card at the score lines to right angles, so the scored sides are on the outer edges.
• Follow the assembly instructions below to test fit everything. When happy with the assembly, apply glue into the slots and re-fit the card to make it permanent.
• Insert the longest card piece (with two folds) into the front-most slot of one plastic side, so the short end is sticking up in the front-most part of that slot.
• Insert the two shorter card pieces in the two slots behind, such that the edge of the shortest ends press up against the long back ends of the card in front.
• Press the opposite card edges into the other plastic side. If necessary prop between two vertical surfaces without applying pressure unevenly (the glue can set with the upper ends compressed more, leading to bowed cardboard).
