Needed storage for the multiple fishing rods I had. Originally planned to cutout on my CNC router but opted to test out the capability of the Prusa and print one instead. Once assembled it is 14 inches in diameter.
Items needed:
- Prefer PETG for this project. Originally printed with 0.15mm
- You will need a sealant of some sort for this assembly. Used "Household GOOP" which is an epoxy in a tube and bonds to almost anything plus remains flexible.
- (1) 42" piece of 2 inch Schedule 40 PVC
- Drill
- Appropriate size drill bit to clean up slide holes if need be.
Assembly:
Both the base and the top are to be dry fit only. I would not recommend using glue with their assembly. Both the base and top will only assembly one way. Slide together adjacent pieces to make 2 separate halves. Then slide the halves together.
One problem I had was with the both of the round slide that it needed smoothed. I also ran a drill bit through the receiving slide holes to smooth out the layer lines make assembly easier.
Slide the Base support up on the PVC pipe
Apply glue on PVC pipe and hole in base that will receive the pipe. Slide the PVC into the base.
Apply glue to the pipe where the support will go and to the underside of the base support piece. Slide the base support piece down onto the base.
Apply glue to the top of the PVC pipe and inside of the hole of the top piece. Be careful to line up the hooks with the rod handle holes in the base. Slide it on.
The hole size was made to fit Charlotte brand PVC pipe and will be a snug fit.
The base holes are inset slightly so the rods will lean out when then are placed in the holder.
