2019 - Momumental work of about 3.20 m height in limestone of Crazannes, by Philippe Stemmelen. Mami Wata (or Mamy Wata, Mami Watta or Mama Wata) is an aquatic deity of the African voodoo cult, whose practice is widespread in West, Central and Southern Africa, in the African diaspora, the Caribbean, and in parts of North and South America. Mami Wata is also an Ewe deity, whose cult is very present on the Atlantic coast of Togo (but also in Nigeria, Cameroon, Congo-Brazzaville)8, where she symbolizes supreme power (as the goddess Durga of the Hindu pantheon symbolizes shakti).
