Proper waste separation is crucial for the environment. In the Netherlands, we have separate bins for paper, plastic, organic waste, and general trash, excluding glass, chemicals, and batteries. Empty batteries should be taken to a collection point, typically in stores. To simplify this at home, I designed a customizable battery bin. This eco-friendly bin combines 3D-printed parts with durable 220g cardstock for the walls. You can even personalize the design by attaching your own printed artwork.

Materials:

  • 4 printable pieces
  • A4 cardstock (220g)
  • Custom or provided paper design
  • Glue

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Print all parts (no supports needed).
  2. Place the base piece and apply glue in the grooves.
  3. Insert the cardstock (with your design) into the grooves.
  4. Slide the "papermask" between the cardstock edges from top to bottom, adjusting slowly—this part can be tricky. Glue is optional here.
  5. Once the cardstock forms a closed loop, attach the top piece.
  6. Glue the final top-top piece, but leave the top unglued for easy bin emptying.
