Do not print this lamp if you don't want to be disappointed.
First time creating something of this size. I'm not super satisfied from the outcome. I'm offering this model as inspiration rather than working model.
Shortcomings:
- bottom mounted power supply is a bad choice, at full brightness it gives out some heat and is hard do assemble. Power supply should be in separate box outside the electronics.
- the light diffuser is too close.
- the light diffuser coupler is too small, making the whole tower very flimsy and not sit straight.
- it's quite tricky to make the coupler sit tight and not loose; need a lot of prototypes depending on printer accuracy.
BOM:
- 2 × 1 m ARGB WS2812 LEDs (higher density the better), can add more for more even diffusion, but 2 strips are good enough for 180°
- 2 cardboard hollow cylinders: ≈ 0.5 m height ⌀ 50 mm internal and ⌀ 60 mm external (empty cling/stretch foil/wrap rolls)
- 5 V power supply (appropriate crurrent to length of LED strip), 70 mm × 93 mm hole spacing in lid
- ESP-01 or better.
- ≈ 400 grams of filament (≈ 200 g of white for diffusers)
- 5 × M4×6 – 30 mm flathead screws (DIN 965 / ISO 7046 or similar)
- In my case I don't like the LED strip adhesive so I used my LED strip holders and screws (https://www.printables.com/model/78297-90-degree-l-10mm-led-strip-bracket)
Printing settings:
LED diffusers are intendent to be printed in vase 0.5 mm wall thickness. 0 top 0 bottom layers. Rest is preference.
Assembly:
I've drilled through the cardboard tube for the wiring. No need for power injection
1 m strip next to each other (I've staggered mine but not sure if that's the best idea, it work's well for fire simulation and standard color wave)
burn WLED on ESP
Included the messy F3D file (should have used components).
