[edit 14.2.26] Some improvements based on user feedback. New cap and shaft design features tighter swirl fit and better geometry, included bigger button and reduced file size.

New version of push-button design. It features countless small improvements, but most important part, there's no longer a need to unscrew the cap to reset the mechanism.

Tested with only with airsoft shells. They are modeled after .357 magnum, so it should work with it and .38 Special. But no guarantees as I can't test it.

"wider-" and "widestLock" pushes cartridges further apart,

"retainerTighterCap" is thicker on cap side, use it if your cap is loose.

You will need:

1x M3x12mm(or longer) bolt

That's it!

Print Settings

Notes:

-Body and lock should be printed with 100% infill, rest can be printed with ~20%.

-Everything can be printed with 0.2mm layer height, but I suggest 0.15 or lower.

Models are high resolution and there's a lot of round surfaces, I suggest using use Arc welder.

Post-Printing

Step1: Quality Control

Remove all zits and string you see on all parts.

Make sure shaft fits nicely with the cap, should fit with little to no force. If doesn't fit start sanding the shaft, focus on sides of grooves, peaks and valleys have bigger tolerances.

Make sure shaft fits nicely with the lock, should fit with little to no force.

Sand body's center hole a little at angle or use a drill bit(see the picture).

Make sure cap screws onto the body, it might be a tight fit.

Check if your rounds fit in body's chambers. Some rounds fit worse than others, identify worst rounds and check their rims. If you see any visible protrusions in rims, sand them off, so the rim becomes somewhat round.

After that, start sanding chambers, until all rounds fit perfectly.

Step 2: assembly

Push lock into the body narrower side down(reference the picture bellow). This should require a lot force of force, you may need to use a hammer or a vise. Once it snaps into the place, it should be able to twist with little force.

Push shaft into the body, use M3 bolt to screw button into shaft, place retainer and screw the cap.

Push or pull the button until you hear the snap, it should require some force. If you can't or it takes too much force, sand a ring on a button a little and try again. If there's no snap, scale up the button a bit and print again.

How to use:

-Pull the button until it snaps,

-twist the cap a bit, so the lock moves out of the way

-load rounds

-tighten the cap

Changelog

From previous design

-More durable double stopper

-added retainer to reduce cartridge wobble

-bigger lock to reduce wobble

-two piece shaft to make it captive (button and shaft), you can reset mechanism without fully unscrewing the cap now, just pull the button
