Store your secret messages in this steampunk box. Whether you want to send a hidden message to a friend, leave a secret inspirational note for yourself, or store the wi-fi password, this box can be used for any occasion!
No supports needed. I printed the spool with a brim and set the infill to 60% for that component alone (everything else I did at 15%).
After printing all the components, write your message on a piece of paper that is 15mm tall and 290 mm long (about ½ inch by 11.5 inches). Remember that you won't be able to see the first few inches once everything is assembled, so write your message closer to the middle.
To assemble, put the spool through the bottom of the box. Attach the message to the spool by feeding one end through the slit in the spool and use a pair of tweezers to fold it around the spool for a solid anchor. You can use a small amount of glue, but be careful that you do not glue the spool to the box. Glue the tabs on the other end of the message.
Then, attach the lid to the box.
Finally, glue the the cog and handle to the spool.
Do NOT glue the spool, cog, or handle to the lid.
