The bird hangs on a string or in this case a thread from extruding new filament from the Prusa Mini. You could use thread in place of this filament, The base is weighted with 2" x 1/8" flat washers (8 ea). There is a skate bearing in the bottom of the base that allows the support arm to turn easily.
The top of the base has a light press fit onto the base. Seven washers provide weight to the center. Small nuts and bolts should work also
Two 20 ga aluminum wires are twisted together to make the arm. I placed one end of each in a vice and the other ends in a hand drill. The drill then twisted the wires.
To attach the twisted wire to the center post, I put the wire in a vice with ½” protruding. Then screwed the center post onto the wire, ½” at a time. The wire cut its way into the post for a permanent assembly.
The filament twisted onto the wire arm surprisingly easily and permanently.
