This was an experiment that seems to be working out far better than expected. I had an old swing-arm style lamp that we removed the wall and didn't know what to do with it. I also have a soldering station with poor lighting. In my case this will be mounted to a shelf above my soldering station, but you probably get the idea from the photos. You could weight the base and use it as a desk lamp, or attach it to a any available surface in whatever orientation fits your need.

I printed it in PLA and with a 9 watt bulb it provides plenty of light without enough heat to deform the plastic. You probably can't go much larger in wattage without changing the plastic accordingly. The amount of spring tension from the PLA is just about perfect, but I'm sure most other printable plastics will work pretty well. There's enough tension to hold it in any orientation, but the shade still rotates easily to change the light focus.

It probably wouldn't take too much to remix a better profile at the top, but the simple conical point kept me from needing any supports. I did print with a brim to ensure it didn't get pulled off the bed since there's not much contact surface otherwise.
