MK Oppressor - Coffee Filter Shaping Die

Inspired by the OREA Negotiator filter press tool, this model is designed to allow you to press your coffee filter into place for the ‘no-bypass’ method of pour-over coffee brewing. 

The general conical shape and central stem are about the only features shared with the original Negotiator. I made this model from the ground-up after being requested by several coffee makers to create a tool for the MK Ceramics dripper.

Helical flutes were added to allow the user to pour water around the rim of the press to promote adhesion with the wall of the coffee. Also, a conical void was made to allow for the crown in the floor of the brewer; this promotes printability with no crazy overhangs. 

Other than that, this tool is very simple, and in the same spirit of OREA's Negotiator filter tool, the MK Oppressor (working title donated to me by MK Studio) will also be made freely available to the coffee community. I also want to thank MK Studio for allowing me to embed their logo on the pommel--it really makes it feel official. 

I've uploaded the STL (which should require no scaling up or down) – the model pictured is printed in Polymaker PolyTerra Marble PLA. Because these are hand-made drippers, I have included the STEP file in case you need to make any unique adjustments for your dripper.

⚠One important note: when pouring water around the rim to pre-wet your filter, do not use brewing temperature water, as this will soften PLA and compromise the shape of the tool. I use room temperature water.
