This is a solution to getting the Drinkmate CO2 pressure bottles off of your kitchen counter and (hopefully) looking cleaner while being rapidly accessible.
We purchased a Drinkmate machine several months ago and use it daily; this means that the pressure bottles for injection of CO2 were essentially always sitting on the countertop (usually at an angle on a paper towel to dry). I wanted to make something which would get them up off the counter and be easily accessible.
I found this model from https://www.thingiverse.com/RockSlice on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4862743 and then created a ‘negative’ of their bottle cap design using Tinkercad (included a .stl file of just the negative I created in the event anyone wants to use it to make their own housing/mount design or otherwise).
The remainder of the design is just simple shapes from Tinkercad while giving enough spacing between the two bottle slots to make sure the ~95mm bottle diameters have enough clearance between one another (and the wall).
I also ended up needing to create a small separate triangle bracket which I hastily printed at .3mm layer height and 20% infill (file included) to go under the entire mount because the adhesive I bought and slapped on the back of everything printed from Amazon (This: https://a.co/d/8Nk8GAs ) wasn't quite strong enough by itself to hold both bottles over time. With the bracket I have had no issues though, admittedly, my kitchen countertop does have a lip of granite that might be generally helping to support - your mileage may vary but the strength of the double-sided adhesive is… aggressive… so I think it should work. I just place the caps on top of the upside-down bottles for storage.
Seems to work great and I suspect the risk of bacteria developing isn't all that significant given the only part of the bottle opening which touches the mount is the outside rim. That said, probably would be wise to periodically spray it down with Lysol or something similar. I typically just rinse the bottle in the sink, shake out the excess water/dry the outside, and then immediately stow it in the hanger.
I sliced the mount itself using variable layer height to speed up the print while making it look nice for curved surfaces and I also enabled ironing for the top layers (which of course dramatically increases the print time). It does make it look really nice though and since it's going to be a visible object on my countertop I wanted to increase the wife approval factor/think it was a good move. The support bracket is sliced at .3mm layer height cause ain't_nobody_got_time_for_that.jpeg and it's not really visible.
I printed this in PLA+ (SunLu) which is not food-safe from what I understand… but if you are concerned about food safety - probably always wise to use a food-safe filament/dishwash, etc. Use at your own risk! Happy Printing.
