Original design: KlackEnder Probe by KevinAkaSam | Download free STL model | Printables.com

When building the probe for my own printer, I discovered that my magnets were a different height than the nominal in the design. I modified the design so that you can adjust a few additional parameters without affecting the overall dimensions of the probe and mount etc.

The additional parameters are:

  • layht - set this to your 3D printer layer height so the holes work with the technique here (typically 0.2mm):
  • MagActHt - the actual height of the magnet. My magnets were actually 2.6mm instead of 3mm. Note that it is still based on a nominally 6mm dia magnet.
  • printTolVert - this is the tolerance for the vertical holes according to your printer (note: based on the STL file print orientation I noticed that changing the base user parameters did not change them as expected between the different models, so these are additional parameters). This parameter could also be used for magnets with slightly different diameters, but should still be close to 6mm (i.e. will not work with 8mm dia magnets for example).
  • printTolHor - this is the tolerance for the horizontal holes according to your printer (similar to above). This parameter could also be used for magnets with slightly different diameters, but should still be close to 6mm (i.e. will not work with 8mm dia magnets for example).

Modification to the other user parameters should not be required to get this to work with your actual magnet heights and printer tolerances.

To get this to work with magnets which are slightly different dimensions than the nominal designed dimensions, all you should need to do is modify these parameters to suit your own requirements.

IMPORTANT: You will need to export each component as a mesh individually and orient them per the base design STLs so the tolerances line up as intended.

Hopefully this helps and thanks to kevinakasam for coming up with the original design and implementation.
