My OPiZ2 runs OctoPi for my printer, it sits in a drawer next to the printer which not the best location without a case.

I couldn't print the hexagonal vent holes in the side walls properly and needed to add my expander board. I used PETG and printed without supports. PLA will be fine too. Expander board screws into the lid, OPiZ2 screws into the base part.

Some vent slots with easy to print gaps between them where it makes sense. The slots in the base won't do much unless you use feet to lift it off the surface it stands on. I don't think vents in the base are necessary since there are no components that heat up there, nonetheless, the PCB will get warm under the CPU.

Print took 3 ¾ hrs at 0.2mm layer height but would have been 2 ½ hrs if I used 0.28 (according to Cura).

Photos are slightly different to the model, I did a few tweaks after taking the pics.

I've included a step file for the assembly, it includes the 2 boards in case you want to change thing/remix/add a fan etc.

IR is visible through the side slots. If you use this it may be better to unsolder the part and move it elsewhere using some log wires to extend the legs.

My 5V 5050 fan is powered directly from the board's GPIO pins, pin 4 is +5V and pin 6 next to it is 0V.

Update- 1/4/23: Top was changed for better alignment of the expanded USB connections

Update 16/4/23: Added a top cover with fan mounting holes to suit a 50x50 fan (40mm spacing). Also added a cover for the fan.

Update 30/4/23: Enlarged the screw holes in the top to 2.9mm diameter which should be a better fit for both 3mm machine screws and 3mm self tapping screws, tested using Cura's tolerance setting as “Exclusive” printed with PETG. May still be tight, then you can drill it out or heat the screw the first time you screw it in.

Leave a comment if you notice any errors, my board version may be different to yours and may have a different layout
