The geared bearing upgrade for my Hadley was working fairly well save for one detail: the threaded rod I was using as an axle just couldn't stand up to the torque it was being subjected to. After springs, t-nuts, and threadlocker failed to resolve the issue to my satisfaction I came up with this support frame that can be installed over the top of the wheel to improve rigidity, lifespan of the part, and add to the whole low-budget steampunk aesthetic that defines quite a lot of Hadley builds.

There are some overhanging angles but you should be able to print at the provided orientation with no supports. Included are versions for 3, 4, and 5mm axles, as well as a step file for anyone who wants to get adventurous. Tolerances for the axle are set to 0 by design. The intent is that after you print it, you can drill out the hole to match the axle size or push a heated rod through to get the tightest possible fit. To that end I'd recommend printing with at least 3 perimeters so that you can afford to lose some material without compromising any strength. You will also need two #6 woodscrews or M4 machine screws to attach the frame to your mount.
