Sidewinder X2 spool holder with possibility to secure the spool onto the mount based on the great design by freakyDude. The additional bar placed in the center hole of the spool will prevent tangled 250g spools (and of course also bigger ones) from being pulled by the extruder from the mount, damaging your toolhead in the process. The holder reuses parts from the original flimsy spool holder that is shipped with the machine and can be attached properly to the portal.
Printing
The parts were design for a snug press fit that doesn't require any clue or screws, but a hammer can be useful. Make sure your printer is calibrated properly and the filament won't expand to much during printing as otherwise the parts won't fit.
- Line width: 0.4 mm
- Layer height: 0.2 mm
- Number of walls: 3
- Infill: 15 %

Assembly
The mount reuses the following parts from the original mount:
- Rollers
- Bearings
- Screws
- Washers
- Filament sensor
- Filament sensor holder
The assembly of the mount requires the following steps:
- Attach the first side panel to the mount. Look out for the correct orientation. One of the picture shows more details with additional instructions. In case you need a little bit of force, make sure the side panel lays flat on the table and the mount is pushed at 90°.
- Attach the bearings on both side panels and don't forget to add the washer between bearing and printed part.
- Push the second side panel onto the mount, but don't push it in completely.
- Insert the rollers onto the bearings.
- Push the second side panel completely in.
- Install the filament sensor reusing the original screw.
- Combine both parts of the security pin with a little bit of force (or clue).
In case you don't need the additional security feature, print the original model. Nevertheless have a look at the original project as freakyDude added some nice pictures and instructions for the assembly.
