this model is made to give you a clear view of color, transparency and surface finish of a filament you have. this enables you to compare a specific color between manufacturers, color matching to make sure your project will have matching colors, see how many layers you need to get the transparency you need (or to make it cover up the infill), and also see how much the filament will string and extrude.

i had 5 meters samples you get from ziro (and probably other brands) when buying a roll of filament in mind when designing this wanting to get the most information of esthetic properties with such a small amount of filament without having to buy a spool. only using up 4.10 meters this design works great for that purpose and I have been able to restart a print if the first layer fails.

the finished card has the same dimensions as a Pokemon card except it's 2.8mm thick. this means it fits a trading cards binder making storage simple and to overlook your available colors easy.

the card has a few cutouts in it and 3 boxes to slide another card behind it and directly compare color and transparency at 1,2,3, and 10 layers.

to get an accurate layer representation you need to print it at 0.28mm layer height. it is supposed to be printed at 100% infill to get a solid 10 layer view.

should be printable with any filament, but might need a brim for materials that has a tendency to warp.
