Tesla Model 3s made from 2017-2020 have an issue with the cables running from the main body to the trunk lid. They used solid-core wire which likes to break when its bent/folded repeatedly. Tesla is currently not offering to replace the cabling unless the wires are already broken.

This thing is designed to limit the range of motion of the cable harness, preventing the wire from being repeatedly pinched which would likely eventually lead to failure.
