Modern ikebana vases (two styles)

Simple, modern design, with subtle details. Deep enough to submerge a common flower frog, but still has that “shallow” ikebana look.

Two styles: round, and elongated.

It's important to use slicer settings that will make the vase watertight, or to seal the inside with some kind of waterproofing compound. I used a gloss lacquer, then sanded it for a satin finish.

There are lots of ways to print a watertight container (with FDM) that doesn't need sealing, but using a line width slightly wider than your nozzle (add 25-35% to get the extrusion really squishing down hard), and using the standard crosshatching (rather than concentric pattern) seems to get good results. Make sure you use at least three top layers. Ironing should also help.

These models weren't designed for vase mode but if you try it out, let me know how it goes!

I don't have a resin printer, but I imagine it would print watertight without any fuss.

I also decided to finish the model with sandpaper. I used an orbital sander with a few grades from 120 up to 400 and it looks and feels great.
