Hello,

this is my first try of a calibration cube which also works as filament sample like a filament swatch, just as cube :) If you have any ideas or hints, please leave a comment here :)

Calibration parts (Cursed Cube)

  • 30x30x30mm Cube
  • Dimensions and fitting (625 Bearing, fits very tight);
  • Stringing
  • Ghosting
  • Overhang and bridges
  • Small perimeter
  • One wall
  • Curling
  • Warping
  • Opacity

Please see provided pdf for more details. This cube should not overwhelm your printer and be a good test for usual prints. If you try bearing fitting, i recommend not to push it in completely :) Its hard to remove otherwise, even with the gaps on both sides to help you pulling it out.

I recommend printing this cube as filament sample. I personaly use a QR code batch at bottom site with my used settings for filament brand, type and printer.

Added a 625 bearing “connector”. Test your fitting like with a real 625 bearing and be able to connecto two cubes together. Be aware, this will fit very tight with PLA and most other filament types. Depending on shrinkage, you might have issues and you should try hole compensation if needed (measure your cube, as this is the main purpose of it).

Print settings:

  • 4 walls
  • 5 top and bottom layers
  • 15% Infill
  • Width: ext. Wall 0.42, int. Wall 0.45, default 0.42mm

Print time is 1.01h on a Bambu Lab X1C with half speed (PLA).

New: Doomed Cube

I have added a second cube. It has more warping, harder to print angles (starting at 10°) and more stringing. I don't recommend printing it instead of cursed cube, as this may overwhelm your printer and does not reflect daily prints. Print time is almost like cursed cube with 1:03h.

New: The Infirmary (Cube Storage)

Added a cube station, to store four cubes at each station. Endless stacking is possible. I recommend not more than three stations (12 cubes). You can put filament markers on each slot, if you wish to better see which filament is used. The most common filament types are included. You find it here (it works for every 30mm calibration cube): the infirmary cube storage

Step files are included. If you can, print these instead of stl/3mf.

Beste regards
