It's not strictly a remix, but I've used so much inspiration (and dimensions) so it would be rude to not mark it this way.

I made it for myself as nothing else met my needs. And I hope it will open the Pandora Box of all kinds of addons and upgrades. But don't expect me to do any updates and addons, unless I will need something.

WHY IT'S BETTER:

  1. It's mine
  2. It's modular - if a single part fails it's easy and fast to reprint it, also you can replace one part with something different (once anyone creates it)
  3. It can hold bigger spools - it has less restrictions on width and the spool sits lower, so bigger diameter ones should fit also (I didn't try yet, so I have no idea where's the limitation, but 205mm is for sure)
  4. It can be configured to use 3 extra wide spools (but will require creating custom shafts or some kind of adapters for the spool, also now it's lack of support for back shafts in the middle, but it should be easy to create using my source files)
  5. It has silica gel container by default
  6. Easier to maintenance any issues - usually less thing to disassemble to get to problematic part
  7. Source files available to make your own fixes/extensions…

WHY IT'S WORSE:

  1. Looks not so good
  2. Poor author support - very poor, trust me
  3. It's quite wobbly - it's hard to make everything to be rigid and modular at once
  4. Won't fit your old silica boxes and probably not even the hygrometer you already own
  5. It's easier to break something as almost nothing is enclosed
  6. Some parts didn't get enough love so they don't fit perfectly and sometimes it's hard to assemble them
  7. You're on your won on assembling everything!
  8. A part holding main board has nothing to be attached to
  9. It's really hard to insert RFID PCB, and removing it probably requires breaking the printed part. Printed with PLA probably will break during assembly

Print:
I've printed it in PETG (4 random brands in total, all reinforced with natural cat fiber) and didn't try anything else and won't until something breaks or I need something new.

I have no idea if my printing setting are good or not, but anyway:
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Layer height: 0.2mm
Wall loops: 2
Top and bottom: 3
Infill: 15% cubic
Supports: tree manual (just see the starter pack)
Brim: No

Total: 420g, 19h

I'm using Orca Slicer

Some parts need to be printed multiple times and sometimes also mirrored, so read the file descriptions! Or just use the starter pack…

On photos:

  • inside assembled
  • outside (with visible how much spece is left to the cover with 200mm spools)
  • inside with my most bulky spools (2 are empty, because I don't have full ones this big) - they spin freely. Even the cardboard one that has so tick rims that I didn't believe it will work without new rim design
  • RFID in place
  • 3 spool configuration (but only in front, back still requires new shaft holders)
  • some simple schematics

Some part on photo are older iterations if the parts, but they fit good enough so I won't reprint them, so don;t be surprised (I've published my best attempt).
