Have you felt like your Snapmaker 10W Laser Module is missing one key feature - an Air Assist System to reduce scorching when engraving or cutting? At least I have.

After I saw a really cool mod by german YouTuber Raagnarix (that involved drilling through the top cover plate of the Module), I set out to create my own version of it, that would do without any permanent modifications.

You will need two m3 bolts and hex nuts, as well as an air hose to connect the air assist system you want to use. In my case, I ordered a cheap pneumatics kit from amazon, including a 10 meter hose (with 6mm outer and 4mm inner diameter, which I designed the air supply for) and a few fittings (including the right angle one you see in the picture).

You only need to undo eight screws - the four screws the lower coverplate is attached with and the four screws of the original air duct. You just replace the original air duct with the new nozzle and put the coverplate back on. Then you  then clip on the air supply and secure it with the mounting clip, using two m3 bolts and hex nuts. then you can put in the air hose and you are good to go. I also used one of the right angle connectors that came with the hose I bought, which functions as a strain relief.

Since I don't have my Snapmaker 2.0 set up at the moment and I am still waiting for my Snapmaker Artisan to arrive, I was not able to test it in action yet. Though I hooked it up to the compressor I intend to use it with and was blown away (pun definetly intended) by the air stream coming out the nozzles. Once my Artisan arrives, I will test the mod and share my results.

I am looking forward to what the community has to say about this :)
