I was gifted an M12 jigsaw with no base. It had rubber attachments on a jigsaw blade shank and was apparently adapted for use in the massage industry. Ouch?
I made this new base for it and then found that it was hard to hold a nut inside the base. The original had a mechanism that allowed the base to tilt at an angle. My replacement doesn't allow much adjustment, but it is enough to adjust to get a good 90º with the blade.
The slot that original mechanism fit into was narrow and tapered which made it hard to hold a nut to attach the new base.
I made a second part that is small and holds an M4 nut. The jigsaw base has a recessed hole for an M4x12 cap screw. The nut should face down when the saw is in its normal orientation, which isn't what you would imagine. The small nut holder isn't trapped between the saw and the nut. It just holds the nut so the M4x12 can reach it easily. When you tighten the cap screw it sucks the nut up against the metal securely. The nut holder is trapped by the nut and won't fall out.
