Celestron C5 OTA Rings

I designed these for mounting a Celestron C5 telescope to a traditional Vixen or Losmandy-style dovetail rail. There are many OTA rings on the market, but very few are the correct size for the C5 tube. Typically you need to go far oversized and add a lot of padding. These are very thick, but when printed with ~20% infill they are quite light. I used a carbon fiber polycarbonate filament and have made several sets of them. There is also the option for adding a second dovetail rail to the top for accessories. The attached photo shows a thinner flat portion that only accommodated a Vixen rail, but the linked files have been upgraded to a wider section for the wider Losmandy rails.

M5 hardware is used in all areas and may need to be pressed in with a soldering iron depending upon your tolerances. Adhesive felt strips were cut for the inner faces after the nuts were installed to protect the OTA. The hinged portion uses round coupling/connector nuts with an M5 inner thread and a smooth 8mm outside diameter, 25mm in length. Tightening is accomplished with an M5 bolt, and I added a knurled nut to the top for easy access.
