This print is designed to mark sections of a climbing wall. This allows you to define your own routes in climbing gyms or your own climbing wall at home. It is mainly intended for climbing / bouldering games in which you let the participants make special movements to reach / pull out the pins while climbing a set route.

With different colors special rules can also be defined. For example red only left hand, blue only right hand, black must be doubled, etc.

The markers/pins fit into the standard M10 cylinder head screw holes which are mostly used to fix climbing holds at climbing gyms. The markers are 90mm in length, so the difficulty can be adjustet slightly depending on how far the markers are put into the holes - the holes usually reach to the hollow space at the back of the wall.

Game / training drill ideas:

  • Pins are pulled out and collected, the climber with most pins collected wins the round.
  • Pins have to be pulled out and then placed back into the same hole.
  • Pins have to be pulled out and then placed back into the wall, however this needs to be done into a hole one slot further from the original position - to make it harder for the next climber to reach the pin.

Please note: No matter how strong you print the markers (I printed mine in basic PLA with 30% infill), there is the risk of breaking the pins if overly motivated climbers “jump” towards the marker and pull it out in an uncontrolled way. Hence, a general rule should be that climbers are only allowed to pull out a marker from a ‘stable’ body position.

If you have some creative ideas for using the markers, feel free to share them in your Makes.
