A fun trophy to tell someone that they rock! :-) with added weight for the "stone" using some ball bearings.

I thought RestoreDoctor's rock trophy was really fun, but wanted to add some “heft” to make it feel more weighty and like a stone. I had some 10mm ball bearings (Amazon) spare from a Hextraction build, so I used Tinkercad to add some holes into the base of the rock so they can be pushed in as hidden elements inside.
I also improved the square hole in the base of the rock by enlarging it so that it fits neatly onto the pin on the top of the trophy base from the original model.
There are two versions of the rock body:
- rock base weight has 4 holes to push in ball bearings across the base of the rock (needs 4x 10mm ball bearings);
- rock centre weight has 3 holes, one of which extends up through the body of the rock in the middle, to add a total of 4 bearings stacked, plus one bearing in shallower holes on either side.(needs 6x 10mm ball bearings)
In both cases, a certain amount of pressure is needed to push the bearings into the body of the rock (and a bit more for the stack of bearings in the centre-weighted version). They will sit pretty snug - but, not “clink” around against one another in the centre-weighted version. The only downside is that they are difficult to remove, so may not be easy to reuse elsewhere! (if you do want to extract them later, I found using a Dremel to clear some of the material around the bearings can help to release them)
The trophy base, text plate and arms and face features are as provided in RestoreDoctor's model.
Settings I used:
- 0.20mm Standard (or, your choice of finer)
- Wall loops: min 3
- Infill: 30% grid or lines
- Supports / brim: none
- Layer change: optional, for text colour (or, lettering could be painted)
