3D-Printed Arthroscopic Camera Housing
This model represents the 3D-printed housing of a low-cost arthroscopic camera developed for use in a knee arthroscopy training simulator.
3D-Printed Knee Arthroscopy Simulator (Scientific Validation Study):
It is designed to accommodate a commercially available 5 mm USB endoscopic camera, transforming it into a realistic arthroscopic instrument for educational use.
Scientific Context:
This camera was used as a component of a 3D-printed knee arthroscopy simulator that has been scientifically validated in a randomized controlled trial demonstrating effective skill transfer to real surgical procedures.
The study showed significant improvement in performance metrics among participants trained using the simulator system in which this camera was integrated.

Design Attribution:
The mechanical and structural design of the camera body was created by:
José Aguiomar Foggiatto, PhD
Mechanical Engineer
Professor at the Federal Technological University of Paraná (UTFPR), Brazil
He is the original designer responsible for the CAD development of the camera structure.
Clinical feedback and surgical workflow adaptation for realistic arthroscopic ergonomics were provided by:
Edmar Stieven Filho, MD, MSc, PhD
Orthopedist and Traumatologist
Professor at Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), Brazil
The design was refined through iterative feedback to ensure compatibility with real arthroscopic handling principles.
