I designed this prototype to dabble in an expanding clamp to get a better idea how to design a clamp to fit large tumblers. This prototype is not refined in any way and was just a way to get a feel of how to best create screw helix and joint tolerances between parts, but may be useful for someone else to mess with (STEP file).
It was oversized and blocky to ensure it would print well, which it did. Though the joints may need to be knocked loose with a light tap of a heavy object to break free. I designed it so the joints remain snug even after repeated flexing.
Expands to about 190mm in diameter, so it could function as a bowl turner. However, I don't have a need for one at this time so I have not tested it for that purpose. Otherwise, mechanically it works well.
Intended to fit a PVC pipe with a 20mm OD.
Printed in PLA, using a .6mm nozzle and .15mm layer height.
