I made this for my wife to keep ants out of her humming bird feeder. It creates a moat that when filled with water prevents ants from reaching the humming bird feeder that contains sugar water that the ants love.
I printed this using PETG filament on my Prusa MK4 using a 0.6 mm nozzle with a 0.32 mm layer height. I used a section of clothes hanger wire to make the hook. A kink in the wire positions the moat in the center of two hooks.
When first used the moat seemed to leak although not visibly. After a few days this stopped although the water will still evaporate over time. Refilling it at the same interval as the feeder will probably work.
Humming birds are such energetic little creatures and fun to watch. This addition to their feeding station makes upkeep less demanding.
