The "Trammel of Archimedes" is a mechanical device that creates an elliptical shape using rotating rods. It's named after Archimedes, though his direct involvement is debated. It demonstrates how an ellipse is formed by maintaining a constant sum of distances from two points. This device has educational and historical significance in mathematics and engineering.
You can insert a pen in to the bigger hole on the handle to draw an ellipse.
