MK3/S+ Einsy Base Housing Upgrade

Is your old, trustworthy, MK3 variant looking a little morose with the arrival of the new MK4?? Maybe this vintage upgrade can help.

I noticed that Prusa still offers the OEM version of this set so I decided to post mine even though I designed it four years ago for my own MK3S+. This is a similar version of the standard Base, Door, Extruder and Heatbed Cable Clips. It does include some extra features as well. I know that most people have moved on from this but if you need to repair yours, this just might be a good fit. 

Extra Features

The Top Extruder Cable Clip has a dovetail mount that locks into the Einsy Base for easier cable assembly and maintenance.

This Einsy Base has a custom Raspberry Pi door cover. It includes custom Raspberry Pi cable management features too. It also offers more support under the Rambo board while tightening the power supply screws and inserting cables.

The Einsy Door (heatbed side) is MMU cable ready.

Please note;

The Raspberry Pi door cover will require;

(1) 18-8 Stainless Steel Socket Head Screw, M3 × 0.5 mm Thread, 6 mm Long. (McMaster.com #91292A111.)

(1) M3n square nut (spare nut in your parts bag maybe?)

This screws length is important, otherwise you will touch/damage the Rambo board.

(The Einsy hinge top and bottom parts remain original.)

Settings

Use Prusament PETG, .2 mm layer height, quality settings in Prusa Slicer. .4 nozzle, 15% infill (supports are required on some parts in this project.)

4 sides
4 top

This modification has worked very well with no issues. It’s a nice upgrade for your trusty MK3, if you are not going to the MK4 party just yet.

Follow / reference the original MK3 electrical assembly instructions as needed.
