There are several models of knife sharpeners. I've tried several, and I've always found the knife grip using magnets to be less effective. So, I bought this model that was on sale on AliExpress:

Fixed Edge Angle Sharpener With Whirl Clip DIY Knife Blade Metal 360 Degree Flip Clip Sharpener

And 3 diamond stones, each 30mm wide 250 1000 3000.

It turned out like this:

In real world

The angle can go as low as 15 degrees (limited by the clamp), and with long bars, it can reach 45 degrees for scissors.

In addition to the clamp and stones, you'll need the following non-printable items:

A spherical bearing for the M10 guide rod.

Locally, I bought from the hardware store:

- 1 meter of 10mm aluminum tubing.
- 1 meter of 8mm threaded rod.
- 8 nuts and washers of 8mm.
- 2 screws and nuts of 5mm to secure the clamp (this came with the clamp).
- 3 screws of 3mm to close the box of the height adjustment nut.
- 1 screw of 10mm in diameter to hold the spherical bearing.

ASSEMBLY:

Bar Heights:

I used a 175.5mm tube and a 184mm threaded rod. But any combination with the same difference will work. The idea is to have the tube snug and the central threaded rod able to rotate to adjust the height and thus the angle.

2 threaded rods more are needed inside the tubes long enough to fix them with 4 nuts with washers

The part that moves up and down consists of two pieces, and the nut is placed inside. This is a photo without the cover

The adjustment wheel is attached with a screw. To prevent slipping, I made a groove in the rod to have a flat surface to support the screw.

The movable rod:

The stones are secured by two printed pieces using a 200mm threaded rod, with a nut on the top piece and two on the handle.

I fixed the sliding tube with a nut on the upper piece as well, using an 8mm rod piece glued in place.

To store the rod more comfortably, it can be placed between the stones through an off-center hole.

Height Adjustment:

The base has a 15-degree inclination, so any additional inclination from horizontal needs to be added to that angle. One or two more degrees will give a fine edge, and a bit more will provide a sturdier edge.

I mounted both parts on a piece of wood, with a separation of a little over 200mm between the front edge and the center of the bars. This isn't critical, depend on how long you have the sliding rod.

More common 20mm stones can be used.

A little of lube will be nice in the sliding parts
