Chain cover

I made this chain cover because when my daughter borrowed my bike her white (!) trousers got caught between the chain and the chainring. I never have this problem, but you know, fashion, wide trousers, that kind of stuff.

Printing

Print Chain Cover Inside.stl, Chain Cover Outside.stl and Chain Cover Bracket.stl. I used almost always use ABS since I have a Bambu X1C (eSun ABS+), but PETG will be fine to (maybe even better, because it's more elastic).

You need a big printer, the Chain Cover Inside.stl will barely fit on a Bambu X1C.

Mounting

First assemble the Chain Cover Inside.stl and Chain Cover Outside.stl together with three (or five, I used three) M3 screws, washers and nuts. It's a bit of fiddling, but you'll manage. Then mount it to the bike with Chain Cover Bracket.stl and a rubber padding (eg. old inner tire). More fiddling is involved because there is not much space.

Align it correctly and test by moving the pedals backwards before tightening it completely.

Optional (1): Color

I included Chain Cover Inside in color Bambu X1C.3mf which includes artwork (colored shapes and holes) to mimic the artwork on the bike. The shape is also included separately as Modifier for artwork in slicer.stl

Optional (2): Chain guard

When you have an Engwe Engine Pro fatbike, the first thing you want to do is to replace the chainring with a bigger one, so you're not freewheeling anymore when going fast. I can recommend the LitePro 58T 130mm (no affiliation)

Downside of this chainring is that there is no inner guard so the chain can get off easier. In the models I have included the optional Optional Chain Guard for Prolite 58T 130mm rev 2.stl to mitigate this problem. Margins are small, so your mileage may vary.

Assembly instructions: sandwhich the pedals between the chain guard (on the inside) and the chain ring (on the outside). Note: the ‘rev 1’ version is to be mounted on the inside together with the chainring, so that the pedals are mounted as last (on the outside). However, I found that the chain was not straight with that and there was very little clearance on the inside. Rev 2 solves this.

Consider using OrcaSlicer

Using PrusaSlicer or Bambu Studio? I can really recommend OrcaSlicer which (a.o.) includes calibration profiles.
