Background
This is a printable tread I create for the popular Power Wheels Jeep ride-on toy (specifically the Minnie Mouse jeep, but others have used the same wheel design). Over the years, the plastic wheels wear (especially if your child rides on concrete/asphalt) and your child is left spinning their wheels. Turns out all you need to do is print some treads to return the neck snapping fun into your child's life.
I first started by taking a picture, directly above one of the treads, and importing it as a canvas into Fusion 360. I scaled it appropriately and started to manually sketch the tread profile. I added a radius cut to match the original wheel's diameter and give a solid surface to attach to.
Printing Instructions
- Print out of ABS or ASA (needed to bond to original wheel)
- Printed Solid @ 100% infill
- Print it on textured plate for extra traction
Required Supplies
- #6 x ½" flat head screws
- Dawn Dish Soap
- Isopropyl Alcohol
- SciGrip 16 Solvent Adhesive

Assembly Instructions
- Prop up the Power Wheels in a position where you have access to the wheels and can rotate the wheel freely
- Clean the surface of the original wheel thoroughly using Dawn dish soap and then followed by rubbing alcohol (this is very important so the adhesive bonds properly)
- Apply some SciGrip 16 to the radius'd surface of the tread, ensuring the whole surface is covered, and place the tread onto the wheel.
- While holding the tread in place, screw in QTY: 2 #6 x ½" flat head screws into the tread. This will help hold/clamp the tread onto the wheel while the adhesive sets.
- Repeat until all the entire wheel is re-treaded.
