I wanted to make the display of my MK4 to be easily moved from the printer to somewhere outside of my enclosure. I also do not like the screens sticking out the front all of the time. I made a swinging mount for the LCD with quick attachment between the printer and the remote mount. If I need to pull the printer out , you just slide it out of its swinging mount and back onto the printer. I also made the mount with some 5mm and 3mm holes for optional ways to mount it if not wanting it on the swinging mount.
Here is the Parts list and then a description below of where to use them.
- x8 M3 DIN562 square nuts
- x4 M3x5mm Countersunk Flat Head screws
- x4 M3x8mm Socket head screws
- x4 M3x10mm Socket Head Screws
- x1 #8-32 x 2 ¼" screw or M4x25mm screw
- x4 #10 or 5mm wood or machine screws
- x2 M3x5mm Option USB relocation bracket
- x1 Optional USB right angle down to panel mount extension cable
- x1 Optional Techflex Woven wire wrap (18" should cover it)
x8 M3 square nuts din562 for both mounting brackets The slide into each side of each bracket. DIN562 should be the same as the Prusa nuts. Up to 2.34 thick should fit.
x4 M3x5 Countersunk Flat Head screws for a mounting bracket to the hinge plate (can not stick past the square nuts into the stud channel of the mounting brackets) hinge plate screw holes are countersunk on both sides for optional mounting configurations.
x4 M3x8mm socket head Mk4 Frame to a mounting bracket. Same as on the printer mount, the screws should not go past the square nuts or it will prevent the LCD to slide down into the brackets
x4 M3x10mm Socket Head Screws as the mounting studs into Original MK4 LCD brackets. For me the depth was perfect threading them in until they stopped. They should stick out about 3-4mm in which they will slide into the mounting brackets and lock into place. It should be firm but do not force it. I can slide the lcd in and out of the brackets with firm finger pressure.
x1 #8-32 x 2 1/4 Or M4x25mm screw. Should cut threads into the hinge mounting bracket and slide past the hinge plate and cut threads again into the other half of the hinge mounting bracket. Should be pretty close to flush once tightened.
x4 #10 or 5mm wood or sheet metal screws for mounting the Hinge mounting bracket to the side of wood or plastic enclosure. This was designed around an ikea Lack enclosure. I had some #10 3/4" sheet metal screws (very course thread like a wood screw) on hand, so I used those. Predrilled with a 2mm bit.
x2 M3x5mm round head for optional usb header relocation (location optional, cut threads with screw or drill where you want to mount. I mounted mine behind the hinge plate to the right of the LCD)
Optional x1 USB relocation pigtail Right Angle Down I ordered from Aliexpress as I was in no hurry. Took about less than 2 weeks.
Optional mounting a static position (no swinging mount) to the side of your enclosure. M5 or M3 holes in the mounting bracket for through hole bolting to something of your choice.
Optional woven wire wrap TechFlex F6W0.50BK 1/2" (13mm)

Many other sources. Its good wrap, same as what is on Prusa.
Making a longer cable is also an option. These should be the correct cable ends.

I tried to provide photos of how this works. Lengths of screws may vary depending on print accuracy and overall length between various manufacturing. I suggest having a good supply of M3 hardware at the ready. Aliexpress is a good source of m3 hardware for us Americans who can not find metric at the hardware store for less than $1.25 per screw.
ALSO
Please be careful with your ribbon cable. I suggest leaving it disconnected when test fitting everything and make sure it is going to reach where you intend to mount your display. If you are uncomfortable disconnecting your ribbon cable, then please do not try. If you do, pay attention to which way it goes when you removed it. There are 2 different boards that I know of so my board may not look like your board. I hate to have someone break their display board building one of my projects.
I released all cable ties under my printer for the ground and ribbon cables. They just reach the front left corner of my enclosure without tension on the plugs on the board. I wrapped the cables in TechFlex for protection and a clean look.
