I decided to go fully Baroque and Rococo for this weekly meal-planner and shopping-list chalk board. I felt we needed some gilt-edged fanciness in the kitchen to make our meal planning and family shopping list items more glamorous than they probably are.
This project requires some finishing work to achieve the gold look shown in the photos. You'll need to do some gluing, sanding, priming and painting of the frame sections as well as preparing and attach a piece of chalkboard. You could also use whiteboard or some other drawing/presentation surface - whatever suits your needs.
The frame sections fit on the print bed of my mk3s+ but only just. I printed them in black Esun PLA+ at 10% infill. The cherubs have small alignment holes on the back which match the “mid-top” frame segment to make gluing them in the correct position easier.
I glued everything together in stages using Araldite 2-part epoxy. I found it useful to align the straight parts against a piece of wood to ensure they glue in a squared-up position. Paint-wise I sprayed using an automotive matte white primer (2 coats) and then a metallic gold effect spray (2 coats) from the local hardware store. This wasn't quite enough to get rid of ALL the layer-lines but I don't mind the extra detail once the gold paint is on.
I've included a model for an optional pen-holder that I mounted on the wall next to the board.
