Homemade rack mount for the Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 bass amp head (can't find any on internet).

Printed in 3 parts to match build size of a K1.  Need 2 printed "collars" to secure the bass head.

Hardware needed :

  •  1m threaded M4 rod;
  • 4 M3 insert (designed for 4×4);
  • 4 M4 standards self-locking nuts;
  • 4 M3×12 Hex Socket Head Cap Screws Bolts (head diam. ~5.4).

Slicer parameters :

  • For the rackmount :
    I used 2 walls, 0.2 layer height with 0.4 nozzle and Hyper PLA with 100% infill.
    It took about 3h15 to print the 3 rack mount parts
  • For the 2 “collars” (don't know what to call that) :
    I used 5 walls (no infill will be generated) at 0.2 with 0.4 nozzle and Hyper PLA.
    It took less than half an hour to print that.

Assembly :

  1. Hot-insert 4 M3 inserts into the slots provided in parts 1 and 2. I personally used M3 4×4 inserts as I've already had them, but it might be OK with slightly longer ones.

  2. Assemble the 3 part with a M3 threaded rod (buy 1 meter, then cut to desire length, in my case 2 ~ 430 mm rods). Place the two threaded rods in the upper and lower guides of the 3 parts. They will act as truss rods and contribute to the overall strength of the structure (TH 500's not so heavy : less than 2 kg).
    Use the 4 M4 self-locking nuts.
    NB : There's not a lot of space, so a wrench won't fit. Use a pair of pliers.

  3. Tighten the nuts slightly first. Place the front of the amp head in the opening of the rack support (it must touch the front lips).
    If necessary, spreading left and center parts slightly will facilitate insertion of the TH500. Then, tighten the lock nuts in order to slightly bent the rack mount upward (not to much !), it will bring stiffness.

  4. Use the 4 M3×12 to screw the 2 “collars”. If screws bolt's head diameter match 5.4mm, they will fit the holes perfectly (they fit completely into the slot in my case).

    You can check tension by screwing more or less the 2 collars as shown above (maybe too much on this picture) :
    You can adjust loosing collars and/or truss rods.

  5. Secure in place in your 19" rack and you're good to go on tour ;)

This is the first design I've shared with the community, so please bear with me ;)

PS: maybe should I add more tolerance to the lips that encircle the TH500, but I think they provide even more support, as they hold the amp head firmly in place when the 3 parts are tightened together.
