This dew shield system is made to give easy access to the front cell when using a hyperstar with the C6 SCT.

I have added files for a bahtinov mask that fits the front of the dew shield. My other design of a tri-bahtinov mask works with this system as well.

The base is fitted to the front cell of the telescope using 4 M4 bolts and nuts (or any bolts you make fit there). The bolts simply presses against the cell and if you do not want any marks on it use some tape or simillar between the bolts and the metal of the front cell.

The dew shield, base and unders side of the cable router should be flocked using self adhesive flocking paper.

I recomend using a black color of TPU for the light stop, I used orange and it will let throught some light, it has not proven to be a problem for me. This piece is a tight fit and can prove to be difficult to fasten. take care as not to damage the cables. Experiment with infill to get a some what spongy spring to it and it will fit.

Most of the designes are my own original creations. the C6 hyperstar cable router is a remix of a design found on thingiverse:

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4359656/files

I printed this using Add:north PLA matte pro, 0.2mm layer height. There is some play between the dew shield and the base but this could easily be fixed with a layer of normal tape. This play has not proven to give me any wird artifacts from my flats etc.

The dew shield should easily snap to the base and be held there.

I put a non-commersial license but I allow this design to be printed on demand from any 3d-printing service for any of you not having your own printer.

  • Edit - I have tried to convert the stl files to step in FreeCad as to make them easier to modify in any Cad software, not sure this will work but do tell me if it does. The models were made in tinkercad and by me as an unexperienced rookie to 3d design, I do apologize for any small errors in the models etc. I just dont have the time to sit and re-design it all.
