Companion Cube

First of all, hats off to Ellindsey. The level of skill required to create such an intricate model is truly impressive.

Secondly, this model is optimized for printing with a 0.25 nozzle and a layer height of 0.1 mm .

What I loved about Ellindsey's model is that print lines are oriented in such a way that all six faces look identical.

What I didn't quite like was the size of the cube and the clearances around snap-fit elements. So I redesigned the whole thing replacing snap-fit parts with pressure fit ones and rounding up all dimensions along the way.

Printing.

All parts are organized by color. I didn't bother coming up with complex names for parts so it's gonna be like “pink_1_x6” which means print 6 of them in pink.

Use a 0.25 nozzle and a 0.1 mm layer height.

I used brims and snug supports on every part.

Assembly.

Depending on how good your printer is with overhangs you may need to clean some of the grooves on gray_1 parts where pink_1 part is gonna be located (you can see cut marks on one of my pictures).

Start by separately assembling two opposite faces of the cube. You should end up with two parts that look like as shown on the picture. 

Inserting last pink_1 part might seem tricky. If you loosen the whole assembly a bit there should be enough give put it place (see the picture).

Once you have two parts, put them together and wiggle them until they align and snap together.

The weakest parts of the whole assembly are connections between pink_1 and pink_2  as well as between pink_1 and white_2. Reinforce them with glue if needed. One option is to add some glue between white_2 and a group of gray_1's.
