This is a spool cover for my neighbors grass trimmer, i added the freecad source so you can use it to adapt the solution for any grass trimmer.

Planned obsolescence

This plastic cap made from ABS just 14g get in contact with the ground while using the device in a regular way. I wonder why it was so unnecessary thin walled. It is counted as a consumable part and you can buy it at 14€ inkl. shipping, while the whole device is 65€.

I made a drop in replacement with freecad and printed it from PETG with my prusa mk3. That way the replacement is less than 1€ down to 30 cent if using the cheapest china PETG.

That shows in a great way how important this use case for 3D printers is. There should be a well organized structured way to find replacement parts. For example try to find replacement wheels for your dishwasher - you will find so many that it is faster to make your own.
