Vallejo Colours Storage & Display Carousel
Use this carousel to store up to 24 Vallejo colour bottles or similarly sized items. The rotating model version can rotate freely on your desk and no additional parts are needed – just spin the knurled knob. Furthermore, both the simple and the rotating models are portable.
Model Versions
This model comes in two variants – a simple static one and the rotating model with some additional parts:
Rotating Model
The rotating model comes with a base and some additional parts to mount the base and rotating top together. This model is fully printable and does not need additional parts. The design tries to minimise the friction while turning, so that the carousel will rotate for a few seconds if equipped with bottles in a roughly balanced fashion.
Only the rotating carousel part needs supports for the slightly elevated bottom surface – to reduce the overall height of the model, to make the rotation more stable and to reduce the gap to the surface it stands on.
The TPU ring in the base plate is optional but helps to fix the carousel on the surface of your desk if you spin it.

Simple Static Model
This simplified model of the original rotating version consists of just one part – the spinning top with a simplified underside to save some material and printing complexity. Prints without supports.

Hints for Printing
For a better fit of the printed threadings in the rotating model, I would recommend printing the carousel top, the hub, the base plate and the locking ring with a smaller layer height of 0.16 mm, for instance.
The overall tolerances are tight but worked out well for me when printed with a Prusa i3 MK3S. On other printers, the assembly was a bit more challenging. If you are unsure, I would recommend adjusting the contour compensation setting of your slicer to slightly shrink the contours of the hub and the locking ring.
Assembly
For the rotating model, just print all parts and assemble them as follows:
- Insert the spike inlet in to the carousel top.
- Insert the hub.
- Loosely fix the hub to the carousel top by screwing in the locking ring.
- Screw the base plate to the hub.
- Optionally, glue the TPU ring to the bottom of the base plate.
Finally, insert your paint bottles and start painting :)
