Before printing, check the valve handle you are replacing. This one has a 12-point broach design which is pretty common. I couldn't find any so I designed this one.
About the Design: This design incorporates two features specific to FDM 3D Printing:
- Bridging sacrificial later. The hole for the screw has a sacrificial layer (0.20mm) to avoid using supports at all.
- Inner hollow cylinder. A very flat cylinder is strategically placed in the midpoint of the 12-point interface to force your slicer to generate inner walls to ensure the model is stronger (see image below).
How to Print:
- Use PETG or ASA. In my iteration I used PLA and I am just testing how long it takes for it to degrade.
- Suggested Parameters: Use 0.20 mm layer height, 6 walls, and 25% gyroid infill. The sacrificial layer as well as the hollow section are 0.20mm in height which is why I recommend the 0.20mm layer height.
