Side mount Spool Holder for K1 Max

Ball Bearing and Factory Style!

The tension on the spool is adjustable so you can tune it for different filaments / print speeds / etc.  If you print the knob then you wont even need tools to adjust it.

For the Ball Bearing version you will need 1 each of the printed parts and -

(5) M3 x 12 screws

(4) M8 Flat Washers

(2) 22x8x7 roller bearings.

(1) M8 x 120 Hex Head bolt

(1) M8 Nylock Nut

Print the Spool Screw and Spool Nut with the widest ends down (threads pointing up), supports only touching build plate for the bearing - Do not support the threads.

If printing with 0.4 nozzle - print at .16 or lower layer height

If printing with 0.6 Nozzle - print at .18 or lower layer height

Printing without support (on the threads) at these layer heights and you will not have to clean up the threads.

The knob and frame can be printed however you like.

The knob is just a press fit over your nylock nut.

Update 01052025 - Updated model for variation in the fan screw hole location. Sounds like the newer Max's have a slightly different side fan mounting hole location. The new model will work for the OG and the new model with the slightly different location. 

Update 02052024 - Added Spool Mount Frame for the factory stand-off in case you do not want to use the Ball Bearing style.  If you print this with a 0.6 nozzle it should be a pretty snug fit, if you print with a 0.4 it should go together a little easier, I personally like the fit with the 0.6 nozzle. No support for the nubbins is necessary, they are included in the .stl

The only hardware that is needed for this version is 

(5) M3 x 12 screws
