This is designed to hold a 1/4" OD simi-rigid hose t0 the side of a rimless tank ie the sump/refugium. the gap is 5mm so it will slide over a wide range of thicknesses from 1/4" to 3/4".
I used it for the inlet line of my automatic water change system.
