Summary

These Compliant Grippers were created to further technological refinement in Minimally Invasive Surgery(MIS), offering the advantages of reduced wear, assembly, and recovery time.

An example of a simplified compliant mechanism that retains its functionality as it is scaled down for surgical use. Print a small gripper with smooth jaws or an up-scaled gripper with teeth.

What We Learned

Thinner flexures lead to better gripper jaw alignment under less force.

The gripper prototype above has thicker flexures, which require arduous force and result in incomplete jaw alignment.
